BCT(Busan Container Terminal), the new operator of Busan New Port Pier 6(Terminal 2-4), is the first terminal with remote-controlled quay cranes in Korea.

The opening of the BCT means that Busan New Port welcomes its new terminal after ten years since the opening of BNCT, the Pier 5 Container Terminal, in 2012.

With a quay length of 1,050m and a water depth of 18m, BCT can berth three 50,000-ton vessels simultaneously and has a berthing capacity of 24,000TEU-class Vessels, the largest among existing ships.

This enables the terminal to process the annual cargo volume of over 17.49 million TEU and set up about 54,000 containers.

Kim Ki-young, the commissioner of BJFEZ Authority ― “The opening of the new terminal greatly improved the competitiveness of the Busan New Port in the global trend toward the increase in container volume and ship enlargement.

It is highly expected that the global top logistics companies become our tenant companies shortly since Busan New Port's South·West and Ungdong Distriparks which are part of BJFEZ, will be ready to welcome new residents.

BJFEZ has secured its position as the world’s top logistics hub by having the Busan New Port. The BJFEZ Authority will take a step further and foster a better business environment for our tenant companies by easing restrictions to keep up with the high-efficiency smart port logistics era, together with BCT.”

About 500 persons from the related institutions including the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan City, BJFEZ Authority, Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan Port Authority, HDC, and KDB attended the opening ceremony.
